Some of the most picturesque views in the smoky mountains are of mountain lakes. One of the largest and arguably most scenic is Fontana Lake which forms the southern boundary of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. This mountain lake is visible from many picturesque vantage points, some views are close-up along its winding shoreline offering spectacular views of its shimmering waters; some views are high atop a mountain peak and show Fontana Lake surrounded by scenic mountains.
